Beth Richardson
Hey, my name is Beth Richardson and I am in my second year of The Practical Nursing Program here at Prairie. Before I came to prairie I spent a year at another college to play ACAC basketball. Sports has always been a huge part of my life, it makes me feel alive and gives me a zeal for life. That year of ACAC basketball made me a better player, but my walk with God was strained. The culture of that team was greed and selfishness. The teammates were not playing for the love of the game but for individual praise. I ended that year saying I would never play basketball again. When I left that school, I was down in spirit and searching for the zeal of life again, this lead me to Prairie. I came to Prairie to fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse with Christian values, and having the opportunity to open doors into ministry. Through the grace of God I decided to give sports another chance, and I am so grateful I did. Prairie sports combines God and sport. I have the privilege to play on the volleyball and basketball teams here at Prairie and feel blessed to have leadership opportunities on these teams. Athletes play to glorify God through sportsmanship and teamwork and strive to make each other better. We pray before and after every practice and games allowing us to grow spiritually through sport. Coach and player communication is also very open here at prairie. Coaches become mentors and are always willing to meet and discus life or team issues. They also push their athletes to be the best they can be. Practices are challenging and demanding, and coaches push their athletes to be tough competitors. Being here at prairie I have grown closer to Christ, and I have become a better competitor. The best of both worlds!
