Global Social Justice Consultation at Prairie College (July 2, 2015)

Leaders from social justice organizations have been invited to Prairie College on July 7th for a Consultation on Global Social Justice.  Attending organizations include the Canadian Christian Relief & Development Association, Christian Children’s Fund, Compassion Canada, Dalit Freedom Network Canada, Food for the Hungry, Hagar USA, International Justice Mission Canada, Medical Ministry International Canada, Samaritan’s Purse Canada and World Vision Canada

“The purpose of the one-day gathering is to gain a good understanding of the world’s greatest social justice needs”, shares Mark Maxwell, Prairie’s President.  “We want to learn from leaders in the field who are providing a Christian response to issues such as poverty, human trafficking, slavery, empowering of women and other social justice needs, and then define a program that will prepare students for careers that will address those needs.”

A generous donor, who wants to see us educate people for careers that address the great social justice needs, has covered the costs for the event.

The global church has been awakened to the atrocities that are occurring each and every day.  Dr. James Enns, professor and host, believes this day will be a significant one in the college’s history. “The Scriptures implore us to care for the marginalized and July 7th is an initial step in joining the ongoing and vital effort in a relevant way.”
